Sangha Hike – Welch/Dickey Loop

Join us for this autumn’s sangha hike. We will be traversing the Welch-Dickey Loop in the White Mountains near Waterville Valley. This trail offers two options, those looking for a shorter hike can ascend Mt. Welch and descend back to the trail head along the same trail. Hikers looking for a longer hike can continue on to Mt. Dickey, then complete the loop back to the trail head. Both peaks provide excellent views for a relatively small elevation gain: 1600 ft. gain to Mt. Welch, then another 100 ft overall gain to Mt. Dickey, although there is a significant descent then ascent between Mt. Welch and Mt. Dickey. Round trip distance is 3.8 miles from the trail head to Mt. Welch and back, and 4.5 miles for the entire loop.

Meet at the trail head at 9:00 AM dressed for the weather, keeping in mind it will be cooler at the summits, and bring plenty of water, lunch for eating at the summit, and snacks. Family, friends, and dogs are welcome to join us. This is an accessible hike for children familiar with hiking. Aryaloka does not charge a fee for sangha hikes, but there will be a small parking fee at the trail head. Please register with the Aryaloka office so we can send out more information closer to the time, including car pooling information and weather updates.
