“The Stitch-Fold Path: Coloring the Buddha” Quilt Show
October 17th, 2012Start Date: November 18, 2012
End Date: December 18, 2012
Akashavanda loves playing with colorful fabrics and finding unique and beautiful images of the Buddha to be reproduced with fabric. This solo show will present a collection of art quilts made with the theme of celebrating the Buddha though vibrant color. To convey the Buddha’s transcendental quality, Akashavanda uses embellishments, diaphanous fabric and unusual construction techniques on some of the pieces. Other pieces present a more traditional quilting technique, but add a touch of humor or novel color combination.
An artist’s reception will be held on Sunday, November 18 from 2-4 p.m. at Aryaloka. Admission is free
