This is a day to join hands in meditation and contemplative art practice.

Wear old clothes, bring your enthusiasm and rubber gloves as we gather to dye twelve banners -- each twelve feet tall -- for Aryaloka, under the direction of Kiranada. The banners will be ritually raised along the driveway at the inauguration of our 25th Anniversary Celebrations on August 28.

We will spend the day prepping, binding, mixing, dyeing and washing yards and yards of wonderful cotton cloth in brilliant colors, preparing 'Bali banners' for our Center. We will be working with the Japanese dyeing technique of Arashi Shibori, a bound resist technique to put pattern on cloth.

We will recall mindfulness, however, as we reflect on Buddha's seminal teaching: "Just as the white cloth takes the colors of the dye, so too does the purified mind takes the truth of the Dharma."

To facilitate preparations for the day make sure to call the office and say you are coming. Please bring your own brown-bag lunch.

There is no fee requested for the day, however donations toward the project are welcome from participants and anyone else who wishes to support Aryaloka's 25th Anniversary Celebrations.
