Kula: “A community of the heart; a group of people who come together for a shared purpose.”

Aryaloka is more than its buildings and grounds, more than its classes and retreats. At the heart of Aryaloka is a community of people with a shared love of the Dharma and deep friendships with one another. Within the Aryaloka community are many kulas: groups of volunteers gathered around a common goal to help keep Aryaloka running. Joining a volunteer kula is a great way to create friendships, gain a sense of satisfaction, and contribute to Aryaloka.

We have about 10 active kulas at Aryaloka, and many of them are seeking new volunteers to join them. On Tuesday, November 14, representatives from these kulas will be sharing information about their kula at our first ever Kula Fair.  Do you have a green thumb? The Garden kula could use your help! Excellent grammar and an eye for details? Help copy edit the Vajra Bell! Not sure what you have to offer, except a willingness to help out? Come along to the kula fair and you are sure to find your niche!

The Kula Fair will run from 6:00 pm – 6:45 pm on Tuesday November 14. Delicious treats will be provided, so if you’re coming straight from work you can grab a snack while you’re learning about kulas and stay for Friends Night. If you can provide a vegetarian treat, contact Shrijnana at info@aryaloka.org.
