Event Dates: Sunday, June 17, 2018. 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

In a lively conversation with one of his monastic followers, Shakyamuni Buddha highlights which questions and spiritual teachings are helpful and which questions and teachings are not. By following their discussion we all learn what the purpose of a spiritual life truly is. The day will be an opportunity to meet Shakyamuni, the historical Buddha, in a direct, rich, uncomplicated and personal way. The day will include reading together a short sutta from the Pali canon, Sutta 63 from the Majjhima Nikaya (the CulaMalankya Sutta). We’ll discuss the Sutta in its 2500 year old setting but also talk together about its meaning for us today. This study day is suitable for people of all levels of experience.
