The Buddha and the Goddess of the Earth

December 21 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Event Dates: Dec 21, 10 – 4

Most of the stories about the Buddha take place outside. His Awakening took place beneath a tree, he walked everywhere, and many of his discourses were given beneath a canopy of leaves. In this introductory class, we will explore some of the mythic imagery and nature themes in the Buddha’s story. We will look at how these themes unfold in his teaching, and explore their relevance to us now. Participants will learn basic Buddhist meditation and helpful, practical teachings that remain vital to this day. A vegetarian lunch is included in the cost. Suitable for all levels of experience, including beginners.

If you’d prefer not to book through Eventbrite, you may email info@aryaloka.org or call 603-659-5456 to make other arrangements.

The Sustaining price level also helps Aryaloka offer lower prices to those who could otherwise not afford to attend. Any payment above this price is a tax-deductible donation. Mid-Level prices are for those who have a regular income and are paying their mortgage or rent. Prices at this level contribute to the range of Aryaloka’s operating costs. The Base-Level price is for those without an income or with an income low enough that making ends meet is a challenge. Those whose circumstances are not included above can call the office to arrange alternate pricing.
