Event Dates: Weekend: Friday, May 4 – Sunday, May 6. Full week: Friday, May 4 – Friday, May 11

Our life is made up of many processes, both external and internal. Our attitudes, activities, and social context of our lives are individual threads that interact with one another in a complex set of processes. On this retreat we will explore how we can bring a dharmic perspective into all the different threads and processes in our life, including how we relate to and affect the world. We will bring mindfulness to the individual threads of our lives as well as to the core attitudes and views that underlie them. Deep down do we really think it is possible to grow and develop in every situation? Through meditation we will investigate and question these underlying attitudes bringing them, and all aspects of our lives, into harmony with the Dharma.

The first day and a half of the retreat will be led workshop-style in which Vajradaka will introduce his current teachings and approach to meditation practice. The remainder of the retreat will be structured like an intensive meditation retreat, with silence and many sessions of meditation each day to allow participants to practice what they have learned.

vajradakaAbout Vajradaka: One of the most experienced meditation teachers in Triratna, Vajradaka has been teaching meditation in the Triratna Buddhist Community for over 30 years. It is often said of Vajradaka that his pragmatic and practical approach to profound topics has a light and accessible style, but that it reveals his depth of personal experience and insight into the primary principles of the Dharma.

* At Aryaloka, we strive to make our programs available to everyone regardless of their financial circumstances. Our fee structure allows you to pay according to your means. The Sustaining price is for people comfortably paying their rent or mortgage, and who can afford the occasional meal out and movie. The Sustaining price level also helps Aryaloka offer lower prices to those who could otherwise not afford to attend. Any payment above this price is a tax-deductible donation. Mid-Level prices are for those who have a regular income and are paying their mortgage or rent. Prices at this level contribute to the range of Aryaloka’s operating costs. The Base-Level price is for those without an income or with an income low enough that making ends meet is a challenge. Those whose circumstances are not included above can call the office to arrange alternate pricing.

* Retreat participants are asked to work together to prepare and clean up after meals and to help with general cleanup at the end of the retreat.
